Wood pellets are low carbon sources of heat and power. They are considered almost carbon neutral.

Trebio have a strict Wood Procurement Policy for purchasing raw materials from the forest, this can be viewed here

The British Building Research establishment lists carbon emissions by fuel type, and the Nottingham Energy Partnership lists prices against each fuel type available in the UK.

Woodpellet heating is listed as emitting 28 grammes of CO2 per kwhr of heat energy generated (Domestic BRE SAP 2009 Table12)

Oil heating is listed as emitting 274 grammes of CO2 per kwhr of heat energy generated (Domestic BRE SAP 2009 Table12)

Therefore, switching from oil to woodpellets would save 89% in emmissions.
